The Lone Star Dream: Texas Rangers' Pursuit of Their First World Series
Out of all the places I visited during my time in the military, I have to say that Texas was the most memorable. More specifically, San Antonio, Texas.
I spent 8 long weeks just outside of San Antonio at Lackland Air Force Base, where I attended basic training. After those intense 8 weeks, we loaded up on buses and rode 20 minutes down the road to Ft. Sam.
Man, those 8 weeks were rough.
Some of my closest friends came from my time in Texas. To say we had fun after basic is an understatement. Unfortunately, I didn't get to visit any baseball stadiums while I was there, but if I had been able to, I definitely would have made the trip up to Arlington to watch the Rangers play.
Don't get me wrong; I'm a huge Atlanta Braves fan. I was fortunate enough to attend Game 5 of the World Series back in 2021.
WHAT. AN. EXPERIENCE.
Even though I'm a Braves fan, I feel like I have some ties to Texas, given the blood, sweat, and tears I shed in that state. Literally.
I know Texas has multiple teams, but I'm going to have to root for the Rangers this year because I was a huge fan of Josh Hamilton when he played. I remember watching him hit absolute bombs in the 2006 Home Run Derby and instantly becoming a fan.
He was also incredibly jacked and covered in tattoos, which made him even cooler. Then, years later, I heard his story on "I am Second," which made me an even bigger fan.
What an interesting story.
So to all my fellow Texas Rangers fans, let's aim for a quick 4-game victory!
